WINDOW TYPES

The type of window you choose can greatly impact the quality, comfort, and safety of your home. Maintenance, security, light quality, and airflow are just a few factors to take into consideration when selecting your window. Rest assured, our team at Custom Exteriors will help you every step of the way. We offer sliders, hung and double hung, picture, casement, awning, bay, bow, and more!

Sliding Windows

Unlike traditional single or double hung windows, sliding windows open horizontally instead of vertically. This makes them one of the easier types to operate and maintain. Depending on your lighting and ventilation needs, sliding windows could be a superior option for your home or business.

Single Hung & Double Hung Windows

Arguably the most common window style, Single Hung and Double Hung windows are versatile, stylish, and so easy to maintain. They come in a wide variety of colors and designs and are highly energy-efficient to boot. Single hung windows are defined by a top sash that is fixed in place. Double hung windows, on the other hand, have two moveable sashes.

Picture Windows

Picture windows are a great way to increase your home’s natural lighting. They’re cost-effective, picturesque, and inoperable—making them perhaps the most secure window type available. They’re often chosen because of the completely unobstructed view and natural light that they provide.

Casements & Awning Windows

For windows placed in hard-to-reach areas, such as above countertops or furniture, Casement and Awning windows are by far the most suitable type to install. They’re opened by a hand crank typically found at the base of the window, making for easy operation. And because they open completely—unlike other windows that only open halfway—casement windows provide full ventilation for any room.

Bay Windows

Perhaps one of the most glamorous options on the market, bay windows can instantly become the focal point of any home. Made up of three or more panels, they can completely open up a room by letting in large amounts of fresh air and natural sunlight. Solidly built and beautifully crafted, bay windows are slowly becoming a homeowner favorite—even despite their size.
